Chardonnay Quercus is one of the good wines offered by the Slovenian winery Klet Brda. We are talking about a reality very similar to our Friuli, where the white wines, in particular, are characterised by a beautiful finesse and elegance. This is due to a sub-Mediterranean climate, created by the encounter/clash of warm influences from the sea, not far away, and cold currents from the Alps. Here, the Chardonnay seems to be particularly at ease, reaching full maturity without losing its freshness and acquiring all its typical aromas. Harvested exclusively by hand, the grapes are brought to the cellar to be processed within a few hours. The entire process takes place in steel, to best preserve the fresh and fragrant aromas of the initial fruit. In the glass, it has a beautiful straw yellow colour. On the nose, it is surprising for the richness of its aromatic range, which plays on notes of fresh fruit: from apple to melon, from peach to pineapple. The correspondence on the palate is almost perfect. Fresh and well balanced, this Slovenian white easily accompanies a wide range of dishes. Excellent with schnitzel and tasty fish dishes. Good today, it is a wine that can still improve. Well stored, cool and dark, it can continue to evolve for three or four years. But there is no need to wait. Let's uncork it at the next dinner with friends. We will certainly be delighted. The wines of Klet Brda tell the story of the magnificent Slovenian hills and the many local grape varieties. Here, some four hundred families cultivate vineyards on steep slopes to produce, vintage after vintage, grapes of the highest quality. We are in the western part of Slovenia, a little corner of paradise nestled halfway between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. Here, the commitment of all the winegrowers is to work towards sustainable production, respecting nature and the original grape varieties. A magic formula that is intended to guarantee long-term economic success. It is no coincidence that today the Klet Brda winery is the largest producer and exporter of Slovenian wines. And thanks to its special style, it has already won the esteem of numerous wine lovers in no fewer than 26 countries around the world.

Pinot Noir is one of the oldest varieties, having been described by the Roman writer, Pliny. It originates from Burgundy, where it is the most widespread red variety. It is also the basis for many prestigious Champagnes. It is a very demanding variety both to grow and to make well. It requires light, airy, well-drained soil in the best sites and the most meticulous approach from the winegrower.

In view of this, we decided to include the Pinot Noir as the only red variety in out palette of wines. We first planted it in 2009 in Ivanjkovci and then in Jeruzalem in 2012.

Verus’ first Pinot Noir is from 2011. Despite the young age of the vineyard, due to the low crop weight per vine and a good autumn, we were able to produce a beautiful ruby red wine with a bouquet reminiscent of raspberries, strawberries, cherries and redcurrant, followed by a full-bodied and mature flavour showing nuances of all these fruits.

The wine is a delicate ruby ​​color. The bouquet is medium accentuated. The Pinot Noir school bouquet offers strawberries, smoke, and a slight scent of venison and mushrooms. In the mouth, the wine is dry, with a gentle but perceptible tannin touch, with slightly bitter but pleasant sensations in the direction of the dessert. It is medium-bodied, the fruitiness is already ready on the first meat, but it will easily be able to ripen for at least a decade. The signature of the house of Verus, which swears by the purity and variety of aromas, can also be seen in this Pinot Noir.

Paring with food: poultry, grilled fish, steak

 This wine will not disappoint you. Elegant french style of red with black currant and blueberries aromas. Grilled vegetables with green pepper or red meat with mushrooms. Red wine with soft tannins. Wine has dark ruby colour, with hints of violet shades. Wine is typical for the variety with aromas reminiscent of wild berry fruits, especially black currants and blueberries, as well as green pepper, even mint and cedar. The mouthfeel is complex, harmonious and soft, full bodied with soft tannins. Let this wine makes your day! “Red French that never disappoints" Cabernet sauvignon is the most planted red wine variety around the globe, renewed for the quality and refined wines that can be produced from its grapes.  The variety gained international reputation also due to the wine ageing potential. Cabernet Sauvignon was brought to Brda in the second half of the 19th century. Variety is recognised by small round, five to seven lobbed leaves with deep lateral sinuses. Leaf is dark green and glossy on the upper side and has trichomes on the bottom leaf side. Bunch is small and compact attached to a vine with a short pedicel. On the bunch we can find small round berries, having thick waxy skin. Budburst is late, therefore variety is often unaffected by the spring frost. Maturation is also late; therefore, it requires only the best expositions to reach full maturity and optimal grape quality. The best results are given when Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted on well drained flysch soils trellised to guyot. Cabernet sauvignon wines are full and generous and reflect our stubbornness. Wine is perfectly accompanied by beef, red meat, steaks, ripe cheese or game. Do not forget that this wine should be served at temperatures between 14 and 16 °C.

The family story of the Erzetic family from Višnjevik has long been closely connected with nature, viticulture and winemaking. They remain loyal to the land of Briš, combine traditional grape and wine production with modern knowledge and technology, and thus refine excellent varietal wines. They are currently in the phase of conversion to organic production. With experience and wise judgement, they preserve tradition and introduce innovations. A special feature is the maturation of the wine in large clay amphorae, which, according to the old tradition, are dug into the ground of the newly built wine cellar. In ideal underground conditions, the entire process is carried out, from grape processing, carefully controlled wine maturation to bottling.

Dark red color with ruby shades. The smell of small forest fruits continues with the perception of ripe aromas of dark stone fruits.
